John Maio Posted November 27, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 27, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes I know its a US/Canada holiday and this is an international site, but I thought I'd take a minute to thank members of this forum and Leica. My M7 quit working in auto mode back in September. searching for an easy fix, I mentioned it here. Well, to keep a long story short, a forum member asked if my M7 was an early one with the gold DX contacts or one of the newer ones with the optical DX assembly. A little research on the forum uncovered the fact that I completely missed the the point that Leica had changed the DX coding system and offered no charge upgrades to original M7 owners (like me). Realizing that there was no quick fix to the "AUTO" issue I called Leica service about sending it in and having a CLA performed. I also mentioned the optical DX reader and was told it would have to go back to Solms for that. Well 2 months later, I have it back. Everything looks pristine and everything functions as new. And yes, there is a new optical DX sensor installed. Cost for all this? Zero! So, thank you forum members for mentioning that sensor and thank you Leica for standing behind your products like no other company I can think of. Michael Hiles Posted November 27, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 27, 2009 Nice story of great cooperation (forum and Leica) and service (Leica). BTW - today is Thanksgiving in the United States. Canada's Thanksgiving holiday is always the second Monday of October. Turkeys abound.
