coding hassle

I've coded my Nokton 50 and summicron 90 with Bo's excellent template and a sharpie but no matter how I try, my camera still doesn't recognise the lenses ...ye I do have ir/lens detection 'ON' and , to be honest, haven't noticed much probs at these focal lengths , just wondering if coding will do anything to the (admittedly small) vignetting with the Nokt at f1.1 ?

BTW, the F1.1 Nokton has to be the bargain of the century, I paid £520 NEW on a well known auction site and it came in 5 days....I'm Loving it to the extent I might even sell my 50 summarit!.........maybe...........err, come to think of it....NO. :)

yes, correct framelines.....should I be using some white tippex or similar as well as the black sharpie to code the lenses both white and black code bars??

I know the camera systems are ok as the two 'rits code fine

thanks Nicole

My 35 is coded with a sharpie, just a regular office supllies type of sharpie. I marked only the two required black dots, no tippex and the dots are far from perfect but it works.

I did notice that the space between two neigbouring black dots needs to be clean, if not the camera won't read the code.

johntobias,

Make sure you dab on plenty of black. :-)

The 50mm 1.1 Nokton is easy. because it have the recessed grove. actually I coded mine with just one long black line, no dots, as long as the black dots are next to each other, they can connect, try that... let it dry and then come back and dab on some more. make sure the bar ends the right place. ;-)

The leica lens is a lot more difficult.. simply because it tends to rub off the ink and smear it on the mount, it don't hurt anything but the code only stay on for a few installations.

also have an ultron 28 so need to code it, by the way, Bo, your template is fantastic, used plenty of 'sharpie' and it works perfectly....many thanks, (yes I know its for the exif data only at longer lengths but thanks for the heads up)

cheers all

no more 'hassles' :-)

John
