spersky Posted November 24, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 24, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just did a search and cannot find a definative SD card compatability thread. I think the best would be a super large SD card, like a 20-40GB card. Are large capacity cards more vunerable to lockup? What brand do preople use, or I read somwhere that certain version work better. I need to order more SD cards, and I do not want to order the wrong cards. thanks
Advertisement Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Hi spersky, Take a look here The Jury on SD cards with the m9. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
chrism Posted November 24, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 24, 2009 If you need that much capacity, think about how many shots you will use if the card does fail! Lots of smaller ones might be safer. Chris
RockyIII Posted November 24, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 24, 2009 The Leica M9 FAQ lists the SD cards recommended by Leica. http://en.leica-camera.com/assets/file/download.php?filename=file_4461.pdf Rocky
jaapv Posted November 24, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 24, 2009 I use Sandisk Ultra II 16 Gb and they work perfectly and are large enough to hold sufficient uncompressed shots.
chris_tribble Posted November 24, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 24, 2009 Sandisk Ultra II or III 8GB work fine for me - insanity IMHO to go for uber large cards. We're not shooting HDV on the M9!
jaapv Posted November 24, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 24, 2009 Don't start me on HDV... Adobe Media Encoder seems to take forever, not to mention the full-dinnertime wait for Premiere to import the files:rolleyes: Patricia decided to do her holiday video in full HD:o Sorry to go OT, but you hit a sore spot.... wparsonsgisnet Posted November 24, 2009 Share #8 Posted November 24, 2009 I also chose the Ultra II 16gb. They work very well and are just as speedy at the Ultra II 2gb. They are 2x as fast as the Transcend 150x 8gb.
rebelfocus Posted November 24, 2009 Share #9 Posted November 24, 2009 I'm using a 16Gb Sandisk Extreme III 30 mb/s (Type 6) and it works perfectly. I've heard the newer Type 10 version of this card can be problematic for some.

skimmel Posted November 25, 2009 Share #11 Posted November 25, 2009 I use Sandisk Ultra II 16 Gb and they work perfectly and are large enough to hold sufficient uncompressed shots. About how many uncompressed does it hold? Do you know how many compressed too? Thanks.
