Triumph for R9DMR

Andy,

Matter of taste. Large format-looking digital is excellent for brochures, particularly when the capture is as clean as this or when high ISO's are an issue.

You don't get the same tactile quality from the newer glass that you do with film. Each medium has its uses. Your lighthouse shot would not look the same with a DMR. Horses for courses.

BTW, this is NOT an invitation for an arguement. :)

Things have been very civil over here so far. I dread the arrival of the mob on the 30th... :(

I am not looking for an argument either, William. But...

These are either really nice shots of a proper motorcycle, or they are not.

In my humble opinion, they are.

The fact that they were recorded with a DMR as opposed to film is irrelevant. I don't think that they could have been improved if the film back had been left on and the shots taken "traditionally". In fact, I suggest that if Wilfried had said these were taken with Astia, it would have been difficult to call "Foul!"

I am really looking forward to seeing the results from the M8/MD/whatever, come the autumn. Digital is coming of age, I'm afraid.

Hallo Wilfried,

die Bilder sind einfach gut: prächtige Details, gut umgesetzt mit gezielt gesetzter selektiver Schärfe, gut geführter Blick trotz teils recht unruhigen Hintergrunds. Klasse!

It's my favorite too. Selective DOF is put to very good use. The color saturation is wonderful and the contrast and sharpness are tack on. Your composition is also quite good. Thank you, it's a pleasure to see nice work this early in the morning.

Hello Volker,

One might think so. I expect you lads from the German Forum are more aware of the differences between both media. Last I looked, there was still much tiring contention on the English-speaking Forum. When I get home this PM, I'll post a shot with the 75/2 on 100 UC which you can compare for the differing qualities between the media.

It will be good to have the participation and input from the English-speaking German Forum members IMO. It might even keep the tone on this side a bit more polite! :) I used to visit your side with some frequency because the standard of the photography was sometimes better. BTW, my German is very "rusty" and I can barely read the comments on your side; FORGET trying to post a reply!!! :)

Wilfied I like the title of your post - and also the photos very much. I think discussions on pro digital or against should really be a thing of the past!

Regards

Volker

Volker,

regarding the title I couldn't resist.;)
