jimbo035 Posted November 16, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 16, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) The 35mm lens that came wth my Leicaflex is a 1966 2.8. Elmarit. An opportunity to trade-up to a 35/2 Summicron has come along, so I need to know if the latter is generally superior (particularly wide open), less prone to flare etc etc before deciding. Alternatively I would even go for a 35 Summilux.... if advised "so to do" by knowledgable fellow members - especially if they have a Leicaflex as well. (Ineligble for ROM lenses, obviously). Advertisement Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Hi jimbo035, Take a look here Advice sought about replacing a two-cam 35/2.8Elmarit-R. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted November 17, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 17, 2009 I doubt you will see any difference in quality, the Summicron is just that bit faster (and makes the viewfinder a tad brighter of course). There are two versions of the Summicron (as with the Elmarit), the later one has a built in hood. The Summilux will offer even more speed of course, and shallower depth of field wide open, but is much bigger and heavier. Do you need/want the extra speed?
