Advertisement Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Hi Guest stnami, Take a look here Back to the D2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Douglasco Posted November 14, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 14, 2009 Sean has received new firmware from Leica and is testing it today, it should cure the shutter lag on the X1.
Riley Posted November 17, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 17, 2009 is that with MF too ?
wda Posted November 18, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 18, 2009 is that with MF too ? Do see the X1 forum for continuing updates on this story. My feeling is that firmware will radically improve on the first pre-release firmware results reported so far. Sean Reid is working hard with Leica on the issue. Guest stnami Posted November 18, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 18, 2009 There is only a certain amount that can be so called fixed with software......... the manual focusing wheel will remain and will be a pain in the arse to focus in bright sunlight...............AF will hunt in dim light, we will fumble back to MF and by that time your subject has already caught the tram home and is sitting back having a nice cold ale
Douglasco Posted November 18, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 18, 2009 I think the shutter lag and AF will be exactly the same as the D2 except the x1 will have a far greater image quality.
daveleo Posted November 18, 2009 Share #7 Posted November 18, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) the D2 is my favorite child also, and "going back" to it simply means you are using the best $2000 camera out there today (my biased opinion). but i think that after L shakes the complaints out of the X1 ... it will exceed the D2 in handling and results (never thought i would say that), and i fully expect to drop $2000 on one at that point and i'll be happy to do it. patience is a virtue. I am in the same boat as you. I am waiting to check if the X1 is capable rendering a nice bokeh and if has a very good low light performance. If it is capable of those things, I will sell one of my D2 to finance a X1.

wilfredo Posted November 19, 2009 Share #10 Posted November 19, 2009 It sounds like the X1 is an upscale D2, but what about a zoom lens? With the X1 there is no zoom and no interchangeable lenses. Why didn't they make this a micro 4/3 camera like the new Olympus PEN. Perhaps that's further down the road? I'm surprised to hear of the shutter lag. I can tolerate it on my D2 for which I only paid $600.00 used, but I would expect more from a $2000.00 Leica out of the box in 2009 or 2010.
carlosecpf Posted November 20, 2009 Share #11 Posted November 20, 2009 Hey Carlos,Just remember where that D2's original home is. Bob hey Bob, The D2 I've bought from you I will never let go. It was my first one, after all. Now it is at Cameraleather.com for a stylish makeover. I might sell the other one I got on eBay, but I haven't made up my mind yet. Now it is at Cameraleather.com for a stylish makeover. I might sell the other one I got on eBay, but I haven't made up my mind yet. Please post a picture when you get it back. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see what it looks like. My D2 gets more attention than my M8. Must be the big LEICA lettering. If someone is looking for a status camera, no need to spend thousands, this is the one. However, that's no real reason to purchase a camera. I'm really enjoying mine. Welcome, dear visitor!
