Lens distance markings on D2

I've noticed that the focus distance scale markings on my Digilux 2 are 'miles' out. Has anyone checked theirs? If I accurately manually focus on something 2 meters away (using the full magnification in the eye-level viewfinder) my lens scale is in between 0.8 and 1.2 meters. It's actually on the 3.2 feet mark! Something around 3 meters away gives a reading of just over the 1.2 meter mark. Focussing on these same distances with my any of my M cameras, gives an accurate lens scale reading. The camera does record in-focus shots when focussing manually; as it does on automatic, but information on the lens when working with manual focus is wrong.

the lens barrel distances on my D2 are off by at least a kilometer !! (slight exageration).

this happened after i sent it in for a sensor change (2 years ago?) and they "adjusted" the focusing ring for me .... i have not wanted to part with it at all, so i live with it as-is and focus in the EVF or most often by AF.

someday, i may get back to getting it fixed.

Ah, thanks, That's interesting. I've only had this camera a few weeks and I know it had a new sensor fitted only last September. Perhaps they 'adjusted' my focussing ring also!

Funny you both mention sensor changes.

My newest D2 which still has the original sensor reads 1.9 at the ring when I manually focus at 2m.

My older D2, with sensor replaced last year, reads only 1.4 at the same distance!

I only have the latter for 2 weeks or so, but did not notice it yet.

Good to know if you try to guess the distance and set it manually.
