Mana Posted November 7, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you were a serious amateur, seeking to upgrade, money not an issue, wanting the convenience of a pocket camera, and very interested in close-up macros, would you choose the Leica X1? Any help here would be most appreciated. This is my first post here.
Advertisement Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Hi Mana, Take a look here Leica X1 vs Panasonic LX-3. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Tenor1 Posted November 7, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 7, 2009 Welcome to the forum Mana, I am not at the level to make a recommendation between these two cameras for your needs, but maybe someone qualified will clarify on the macro abilities of the X1. Mana Posted November 7, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted November 7, 2009 Thanks for your kind welcome, Carlos. You may want to comment on the D-Lux 4 as a possible selection for my needs. Again, as a newcomer here, I am trying to figure out the protocol as I read various posts. I see that professionals have very specific needs and are quite knowledgeable in many aspects of camera design and use. I will learn, but right now I am searching for the pocket-sized "great little" camera that will enable me to take those stunning macros. I assume someone will want to lend a helping hand. Guest stnami Posted November 8, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 8, 2009 take those stunning macros. you need a stunning dedicated macro lens everything else is a compromise. 35mm (X1) is not a good lens range for macro work plus range is 30cm( size of a school ruler) to infinity........ 50mm 1:1 would be minimum for great results. Pocket size cameras the macro is a after thought Olympus and Panasonic micro four thirds is worth a look
Mana Posted November 8, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted November 8, 2009 So I need a camera with interchangeable lenses? That's being straight and very helpful. I see Olympus has something new on the horizon. I was hoping for a Leica that would do the trick. Is there a Leica macro lens that would work on a "smallish" camera? Again, I am a novice willing to learn quickly in order not to be bamboozled by salespeople!
