What happens with my M8 WB ????

I regularly shoot with both M8 and 1Ds III. The Leica seems to fail on finding the right WB in around 10% of the cases. Even more when shooting in mixed light. My 1Ds III fails in slightly more than 5% of the cases, but seems to be closer to the real thing in mixed light, but is still off. My niece has a G11. Going through pictures she had taken at a cruise, mostly party-pictures from indoor in mixed light with this tiny built in flash, 'none' was spot on regarding WB. Faces varied from purple to greenish. -. Well, I wasn't there to check how drunk or seasick people really were, but...

One thing that will cause this is having a warm (tungsten lit) background while daylight from a window illuminates the subject. In trying to neutralize the orange background, the camera makes the forground turn blue. Fortunately, the young lady has a nice white blouse to use for white balance in ACR.

That's right Brent. My daughter was illuminated from a window daylight and also she has an incandescent light over her head. Tomorrow I'm going to test it with the incandescent light off to see what happens.
