Advertisement Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Hi alexc, Take a look here used 50/1.4. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
carstenw Posted October 28, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 28, 2009 There are many versions of this lens. I presume those are serial numbers. The first two are version I, not that sharp a lens. The third one is version II, and given the late number, may be the one called pre-ASPH, which focuses to 0,7m and has a built-in hood. The first two prices look okay, the third one is cheap. arnold kaufman Posted October 28, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 28, 2009 I am trying to find used 50/1.4, this what I found: #1688301 Germany MINT- $870. #1688335 Germany EX $725. #2503284, black MINT- $1195. Looks very reasonable. Can somebody comment on this. Thank you in advance The first two lenses are first version mfg. in 1959third lens is second version mfg. in 1972 & does not have a built-in shade. There is a third version which began production in 1995 this one has a built in hood however this is not the current asph. design,IMHO I would opt for a later lens.Lens 1 & 2 are not great lenses.Lens 3 is not a real bargain. cbretteville Posted October 28, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 28, 2009 First two are indeed v1 which as only in production from 1959 to about 1961. The last one's serial number was allocated in 1972 which makes it a v2 with E43 filter thread and one meter close focusing distance. Both are nice lenses but v1 is funky in the wider apertures. For general photography v2 is a lot better. The $1200 price tag on the v2 seems reasonable provided it indeed is a mint- and comes with the reversible hoods and both caps.
