Capture One Pro 5

Unfortunately (for me), most of the new features are for the PRO version only.

That includes (but not limited to) : Adjust colours; Adjust skin; R-G-B Levels and curves; Dust and spots.

A bit pricey to upgrade to 5 PRO (from 4) to use the new features.

4 to 5 upgrade does not bring much and it is not free.

Does C1 still duplicate all one's pictures into its own proprietary directory/file system on opening them?

I dont think it ever did that but ver4 did add a Capture One folder containing adjustment files to each image folder. If they had changed that system I think they would have mentioned it.

A lot of people have asked this question but I dont think there is one. Probably the market is not big enough. Maybe that will change.

I would suggest watching the free tutorials on Phase One's website. Does not cover everything but they are very helpful. I wish they would slow down a bit however. I have had to rewind a few times to see quite what the instructor was doing.

Um, Andy, by "duplicate" do you mean 'generate thumbnails' and 'store' control files for every image setting in the C1 directory relative to the capture (RAW file) directory?

Then the answer is yes ;) That makes all your work trivial to back up, IMO, and move around on different computers.
