fransd Posted October 28, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) C1 V5 is there! I looked at it this morning for the first time and I must say: they did a very good job. Today I will do some testing on my M8 pictures to see if it is better then 4.8. ptarmigan Posted October 28, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 28, 2009 I'll be watching with interest. It seems I'll have to pay for an upgrade though
MitchoIankov Posted October 28, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 28, 2009 Unfortunately (for me), most of the new features are for the PRO version only. That includes (but not limited to) : Adjust colours; Adjust skin; R-G-B Levels and curves; Dust and spots. A bit pricey to upgrade to 5 PRO (from 4) to use the new features. 4 to 5 upgrade does not bring much and it is not free.
adan Posted October 28, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 28, 2009 Does C1 still duplicate all one's pictures into its own proprietary directory/file system on opening them?
novice9 Posted October 28, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 28, 2009 Can anyone recommend any book or any good way to thorougly learn C1? (not necessarily v5, even v4 would be fine, thx t.)
delander † Posted October 28, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 28, 2009 Does C1 still duplicate all one's pictures into its own proprietary directory/file system on opening them? I dont think it ever did that but ver4 did add a Capture One folder containing adjustment files to each image folder. If they had changed that system I think they would have mentioned it. (not necessarily v5, even v4 would be fine, thx t.) A lot of people have asked this question but I dont think there is one. Probably the market is not big enough. Maybe that will change. Maybe that will change. Jeff I would suggest watching the free tutorials on Phase One's website. Does not cover everything but they are very helpful. I wish they would slow down a bit however. I have had to rewind a few times to see quite what the instructor was doing. Wilson
Jamie Roberts Posted October 29, 2009 Share #11 Posted October 29, 2009 Does C1 still duplicate all one's pictures into its own proprietary directory/file system on opening them? Um, Andy, by "duplicate" do you mean 'generate thumbnails' and 'store' control files for every image setting in the C1 directory relative to the capture (RAW file) directory? Then the answer is yes That makes all your work trivial to back up, IMO, and move around on different computers.
