geaibleu Posted October 27, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Three examples of this flowering prickly schrub from Haïti. Interesting flowers with at times different shades of red on the same branch. The magenta tint is genuine and has nothing to do with M8 fantasies. Original images are Kodachrome 64 well kept despite their age.
Advertisement Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Hi geaibleu, Take a look here Bougainvillées. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
StFreud Posted October 27, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 27, 2009 Pretty colors, indeed. The minimal depth of sharpness makes it, especially #2 and 3, like 3d. Stefan
stuny Posted October 27, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 27, 2009 I've never been satisfied with the photos I've taken of this flora, but your images are excellent.
geaibleu Posted October 27, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted October 27, 2009 Thanks for your comments. Yes indeed they are frustrating flowers, up to and including attempts to make them better with overexposure
allamande Posted October 29, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 29, 2009 I have several of these plants in my back garden (cream, deep magenta, orange/pink). They thrive in the hot/dry Southern California environment. The flowers present very interesting subjects when they are in decay; when I garden, I like to collect the decaying flowers (stuck under the bushes) and take their pictures. Actually, I never find them hard to capture, even when in full bloom. It must be the light here. BTW, your images are befitting of this wonderful and hardy plant.
