Mauribix Posted October 26, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted October 26, 2009 That's not a joke. If someone is willing to come here in Turin, he could be the happy owner of an M9 by tomorrow in the morning!
toyfel Posted October 26, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 26, 2009 OK, one problem solved. Now, do you also know a place where they give away money? (preferably somewhere near 5500 €) :o
Mauribix Posted October 26, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted October 26, 2009 Carsten, that's my Official Leica Dealer, here in Turin. Unfortunately at this moment they don't ship the camera, they just sell it at their shop, but if someone is willing to come here, I may ask them to reserve the camera for a little (very little) while, and they will do that for me. carstenw Posted October 26, 2009 Share #7 Posted October 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am happy to wait until me dealer gets one, since I am lazy and I have an M8 Anyway, I won't have the money until early December. Nice of you to let the forum know, however. Maurizio, I just visited your site (the first link), and looked at everything. I am in awe. Your shots are truly great, an amazing collection. I wish I could take those kinds of shots. How do you talk to people to let you do this?
Mauribix Posted October 26, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted October 26, 2009 Thank you Carsten... well, actually I don't know... I don't have specific approach. I tend to observe a lot, then I approach people. Sometimes few words are more than enough with them, sometimes I spend half an hour with my subject, and most of the times a simple glimpse or a smile on my face is the key to let the people "accept" you. I don't like to "steal" pictures as well (unless my intervention could be "harmful" to the scene), I tend to communicate with my subjects. Anyway, I'm sure, I pay a lot of attention to those situation where people get angry because of a "photographer", and those are the biggest lessons to learn. You rapidly know what you shouldn't do and act like. Thank you once again for your compliments!

Mauribix Posted October 26, 2009 Author Share #13 Posted October 26, 2009 I need to open another thread, with a more "inviting" title. Everybody seems to be looking for an M9, and once it's available nobody seems to be interested! uff
brt3 Posted October 27, 2009 Share #14 Posted October 27, 2009 Maurizio, I just visited your site (the first link), and looked at everything. I am in awe. Your shots are truly great, an amazing collection. I wish I could take those kinds of shots. How do you talk to people to let you do this? Sorry to shift the focus of the thread, but I agree. Spectacular shots of the American West, and you really have a way with people, cars, and architecture. I'm a newbie here so please excuse me for asking something that may be common knowledge here -- but could you share your list of favorite lenses? Assume, for example, that you are going on a special trip and can only take 3 lenses along. I do realize the gear has less to do with the image than the person behind the lens, but I'm new to Leica, am getting my first (an M9), and am looking for advice on lens purchases... Thanks (in advance) for any advice! Ray
thrice Posted October 27, 2009 Share #15 Posted October 27, 2009 I wish they did ship internationally Maurizio, your "style" reminds me a lot of the great cuban photo story in the M9 brochure
lars_bergquist Posted October 27, 2009 Share #16 Posted October 27, 2009 Hey, is there anyone who actually has hard evidence of M9 cameras being delivered? I am starting to doubt. The old man from the Age of Retailers with Inventories

Thanks (in advance) for any advice! Ray Sorry Ray, I read your comment just now. If I had to choose three lenses (most of the times i use just one or two glasses), on the M9 they would be for sure the 50lux ASPH, the 35lux ASPH and the 28cron ASPH. I used a lot the 35lux as a standalone lens with my M8, and I'm using the 50lux with the M9. With the M9 anyway, I tend to use the 50lux+28cron combo only. Sometimes, when the "trip" is longer, I tend to add an ultra wide such as the 18mm. BTW, recently I'm considering to sell the 28cron and the 21 to get a 24lux and "extend" my range to a wider range 24-50 (luxes) or 24-35 (luxes as well). I hope this help, anyway you can't go wrong with any Leica lens. Personally I prefer "less contrasty" lenses within the modern (ASPH) ones, that's why I choose the luxes 35 and 50 instead of the crons, and I like the 28cron more than the elmarit. ciao! Mauribix Posted October 27, 2009 Author Share #20 Posted October 27, 2009 Any luck? Unfortunately they had bad experiences with international (overseas) shipping so they prefer to sell the camera into the shop. I'm sorry guys.
