jackart Posted November 2, 2009 Share #22 Posted November 2, 2009 Thanks a lot for Your marvellous images. Rich colours, excellent sharpness and film-like doh. Looks like near perfect combo for me from price/performance point of view. Lately i han an idea to use GF1 with R lens, as they are probably cheaper second-hand and also adapter available. But some people thought that it was bad idea and praised old R digital back. Now I'm sure, that GF1 can perform. Jaak
Herb Sennet Posted November 2, 2009 Author Share #23 Posted November 2, 2009 Hello Jan, Jaak, Many thanks to you for your posts. The GF-1 and Leica lenses are a real joy. It is a bit back to the basics, although with the help of the computer. With a limited budget you will get superb results. Some more autumn pictures of the already mentioned combinations. JHAG Posted November 2, 2009 Share #24 Posted November 2, 2009 # 1 and # 3 are really full of depth. Muted tones in # 1 and painterly greens and ocres in # 3 are nicely felt indeed. Which lens ?

JHAG Posted November 2, 2009 Share #26 Posted November 2, 2009 That Elmar has a nice signature. Still I tested the G1 and found it a bit flat in resolution. But I guess it could be worked out.

Herb Sennet Posted November 4, 2009 Author Share #28 Posted November 4, 2009 It is just another impression of the image quality that is possible with this elder and inexpensive lens. Even this poor reduced JPG still shows the amazing natural detail, color and contrast. I think it doesn't get really better right now besides with medium and large format camera's. And this camera is a joy to use. Something I won't say quickly about the big and heavy gear. Panasonic Lumix GF-1 with Leica Summicron-C 40 mm at f/5.6 from tripod. Herb Sennet Posted November 5, 2009 Author Share #29 Posted November 5, 2009 The Leica lenses I used in this thread are : Summicron-C 40mm f/2 serial nr. 2704079 built in 1974 Elmar-C 90 mm f/4 serial nr. 2641550 built in 1973 That these lenses can be used to very good effect on some of the recent digital camera's is just fantastic. leicanut2 Posted November 5, 2009 Share #30 Posted November 5, 2009 I just got the 90mm by UPS yeasterday I was surprized they said it was a 9+ more like a 10 even the rubber hood is still good, did not get hard or have any rips in it. Glass is perfect made in 1974 . Now I hope to hit the zoo and try the 90 and the 135 tele elmar next week if the nice weather holds up. Jan
