phovsho Posted October 24, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 24, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I have a 5000 model and am still getting the hang of it. I bought it with the attachment which allows you to scan entire roles of film at a time. The image results I've been getting straight out of the box are great (to my untrained eye.) But, I'm struggling with loading and aligning the entire lengths of film. I'm often finding that the film will be aligned such that the scanner is scanning part of two images. How do I interpret and use the tools in either Vuescan or the Nikon software to make adjustments to the alignment. I find it very hit and miss. I'm almost at the point where I'm thinking the easiest option might be to simply cut the role nearest the first negative and then it should align simply because there is no leader on the film. Any suggestions? Apologies if my description isn't clear as I'm struggling for technical words to describe the problem. Best and thanks. M

mgcd Posted October 24, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 24, 2009 Your description is clear, unfortunately I have never used that particular attachment. I hope someone else from the forum has. Cheers,
Nikkor AIS Posted October 24, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 24, 2009 Iv got the same scanner. I gave up trying to aline a whole roll. If you look closely very few camera's have the exact space between frames which will result in some part of the image in a roll being cut off. The solution is to either use strips or single frames. Hope this helps. gregory
pleeson Posted October 25, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 25, 2009 Forgive my lack of specificity, but I'm not at my scanner setup. IIRC, there is a setting in the advanced menus for initial film offset. Open up all the advanced options and search around and I think you'll find it. I had a similar problem with the 9000 on 6x6 negs; took some trial and error, but eventually got it.
