JeffreyTotaro Posted October 17, 2009 Share #21 Posted October 17, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Maybe this was just a poor quality jpeg from the start, or quick, rough processing. Judging IQ on the web is always like playing with fire.

tjphoto Posted October 17, 2009 Share #22 Posted October 17, 2009 Could someone please explain what "IQ" is? I have never ran across this term anyplace else else. Thanks Tim

wilfredo Posted October 18, 2009 Share #24 Posted October 18, 2009 Don't really know about the cause, but the cure (seemingly) is simple. Literally 2 seconds work in C1 Pro. Select the Magenta in Color Editor, reduce it to zero, or any value you choose. Done! I'm not so sure this is an effective cure. This is better but I still see a tinge of magenta. I'm wondering if this issue is similar to the magenta cast on Caucasian skin?
wilfredo Posted October 18, 2009 Share #25 Posted October 18, 2009 Hyperbole does little to enhance one's credibiltole. It's not "terrible", it's just what one gets sometimes with a hot (contrasty) lens and a hot (contrasty) subject in hot (contrasty) light. I'll bet you I can produce magenta fringes like that with any digital camera ever made or to be made in the future, in the equivalent situation. Andy, I've never seen anything like this before and I happened to go by a fountain today and took some shots with a DSLR primarily because I was curious to see if anything magenta would show up in the shots of the water, but I could not detect any kind of magenta cast. wilfredo Posted October 18, 2009 Share #26 Posted October 18, 2009 Here are two DSLR JPEG shots from today, the water fountain was in bright sunlight. Taken at USC. I was there attending a conference on Arab history. I think it would be worth doing some more shots of water fountains in bright sunlight with other M9's to see if this is a pattern with the M9. I think this might be of interest to M9 owners. Good Luck. BTW the little girl was wearing a pink dress. Welcome, dear visitor! erl Posted October 18, 2009 Share #27 Posted October 18, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wifredo, I believe this is a very complex problem which I think also involves shutter speed. To be more specific "fluidity of water" which is controlled by shutter speed. I have had this effect on a (very) few occasions with the M8. Specular highlights on water at the beach. My dog was running through the water, against the light, throwing up spray. As I recall, the spray being broken into very tiny particles did not throw the magenta coma. OTOH, the rippled but still 'solid' water surface had specular highlights from the sun and showed the purple or magenta coma. This may throw some more light on the subject for the more technically minded. I just take my chances. I can't remember if that was pre IR filters or not, which would make a difference to the argument I guess. Regarding your two pics.I think there is an absence of specular highlights which I think is the catalyst for the effect. Just a POV.

Hi Wilfredo and Jean-Luc, with M8 the colour slightly differs * * and she gets closer to the film Perhaps it would be necessary to make a correction? * * I compared the water of the fountain of Jean-Luc and mine
Doc Henry Posted October 18, 2009 Share #29 Posted October 18, 2009 With the agreement of Jean-Luc here is what I get as colour of the water coming from a fountain The photo had no modification I hope that you do not bear a grudge against me if it is not the same fountain M8 Summilux 50 asph 160 iso Welcome, dear visitor!
