Bob Jackson Posted October 13, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone have an opinion on whether the Single Coat or the Multicoat Voigtlander Nokton 35/1.4 lens is better for the M8 than the other? I don't know which one to get.
Advertisement Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Hi Bob Jackson, Take a look here Voigtlander 35/1.4 SC vs. MC Lens. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mzcloud Posted October 14, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 14, 2009 I have one of these, can't really even tell if I have the SC or the Multi coated. Sean reviewed the lens and I don't think the differences are that significant
sean_reid Posted October 14, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 14, 2009 The single coated lens will be less resistant to flare and, for that reason, lower contrast. Some people prefer it for that reason. But unless one is looking specifically for that "older lens - lower contrast" look then he or she may prefer the MC version. This SC vs. MC difference applies generally to most lenses. A larger issue with that 35/1.4 is focus shift. Cheers,

EdLam Posted October 14, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 14, 2009 not sure if this helps, but when i bought my multi coat from B&H last month, they told me that the single coat was considered gray market, and they didn't carry it anymore.
jsrockit Posted January 13, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 13, 2010 Grey market seems to be deceiving here... B&H Photo Video - Grey Market
