I purchased the latest version of the CV Ultron 28mm f2 new about four months ago. It's very sharp with none of the reported focus shift. In my comparisons with summicron shots on Flickr, they seem to have nearly identical bokeh as well as the same amount chromatic abberation when shooting backlit subjects. The only noticeable difference is that the Ultron has just a little more vignette and focus fall-off in the corners when wide open.

I have the older version, 28mm/f1.9. Nice lens, sharp but looks after 2 years already as if it survived a few wars.

I had both and went for the 1.9 on the M8.

Nicer colors, no focus shift. great lens.

I sold it last year. now I have the 28 Elmarit. I miss the f stop, but its smaller and lighter.

go for the old one. the lack of contrast is a thing of a mouse click.

Enjoy your Ultron, it's a amazingly versatile lens, not too "clinical" and very effective in harsh light conditions.

Cheers.

i just took about 1k shots with it driving cross country. i posted some of my favorites...no focus issues whatsoever.

obviously edited, and I did have the UV/IR filter which was a godsend, but i love the combo.
