So my R6 is perfectly functional in every way even after taking it spelunking and on numerous different treks but after leaving it in my backpack for awhile the hotshoe doesn't seem to want to trigger any of my flashes anymore. The x sync/coaxial port works just fine but not the hotshoe. As for the flash ready indicator in the viewfinder that never seem to have worked although the TTL exposure with my metz 54mz4 + SCA551 module seems to exposure each frame correctly. Any suggestions or anyone have a disassembly guide/service manual? Thanks!

Hello fellow Leica enthusiasts, Caver and R6 user from Canada here. Below is my caving/spelunking camera of choice. Cleans off fine every time and has survived numerous falls, splashes, bumps, etc. without visible damage. More dent resistant than some of the other brass cameras I’ve seen out there. The prism housing is very rigid and well sealed. Everything else not so much but not much has gotten into the base plate of the camera and there is enough room to accommodate a custom seal. The flash is a Metz 54mz4. For my first few trips I mainly just bounced off of different surfaces at various angles and EV compensations on TTL mode. This worked well for a good number of photos and situations. It also kept my camera compact when I’m bouldering or traversing through tight tunnels. However there are some inherent problems with that so nowadays I use a soft box and another wireless flash concurrently which works way better. As for lenses I only have the 50mm Summicron-r V2 and the 28mm Elmarit-r V1 which I use when I'm in the cave itself. Definitely a pain in the ass to swap lenses and it's the main reason why I want to get the Leica r 35-70 f4 when I have the money or if I find a good deal (I'm a broke student and labourer). Still many rolls left to develop and scan with that new set up though but link below if you want to take a look at some older photos. https://analoguefran.com/work/uvcc This quite snapshot of the camera was taken after a trip (some of the mud dried and fell off on the return trip): __________________________ https://www.instagram.com/analoguefran/

I’ve got 2 R6 bodies and a plethora of lenses which have been underused for sometime, and I’m currently having a sort out of my camera gear, as I’m currently sitting at an absurd 11 cameras (only the 2 Leicas) and 12 lenses. Part of this is planning on selling my DSLR body, and one of the R6’s to fund a new digital camera (no I can’t afford a Leica), leaving me with a nice film setup and a smaller more convenient digital camera that I can mix and match lenses on, including my Leica lenses. However when looking at my R6’s I noticed the DOF lever is sticking, so I guess it needs service/repair…… but I’m seeing lots of warnings about servicing on here and not much in the way of people who are reliable. So does anyone have any recommendations in the South East/Surrey area? I know there’s repairers in London but I don’t like going up there if I can avoid it. I know there used to be a place in Lewes which has now shut down sadly. Any advice would be greatly welcome……. I’d also be interested in reccomendations of places to sell it. I had a quote from one shop as a trade in against my new camera and was a bit underwhelmed, even before realising it had a sticky lever, so I suspect they’d try and push me down more too.
