The region where I live is hilly with much forest. In these forests of the "Teutoburger Wald" there once the Romans were being defeated and the Roman Empire began to destabilize and finally to collapse. A monument for the Cheruscan leader Arminius (Hermann), once being educated by the Roman ruling class, is here in the city of Detmold to celebrate the victory of the German tribes. Scientific and archeological research is giving evidence that there were probably more than one battle but a sort of guerilla tactics was meant to weaken the Roman troops to keep them busy at more than one place.
