Advertisement Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Hi Prosophos, Take a look here "Alice in Wonderland" (M9, 1 image). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Prosophos Posted June 23, 2011 Author Share #2 Posted June 23, 2011 Perhaps an explanation... The light, the shadows, the interplay of innocence and foreboding. The eye in the tree, watching. The message I want to convey... Children enter this world with the glow of sunshine upon them, but the world has many dark corners within which to get lost. Peter. pauledell Posted June 24, 2011 Share #5 Posted June 24, 2011 Peter, This has a definite "storybook" appeal to it. All of the elements fit your description well. The processing fits the theme perfectly. Have you attempted this in a b&w version? As an aside, I would clone out the two light spots on either side of the lamp post at the end of the hedge row. To me they are slightly distracting. Paul

Holybasil Posted June 25, 2011 Share #8 Posted June 25, 2011 I like the photo, but the whole backstory made it very pretentious.
NB23 Posted June 25, 2011 Share #9 Posted June 25, 2011 I like the photo, but the whole backstory made it very pretentious. One explanation would be that the OP was on acid while looking at his photos. I really don't see any other explanation why would one see the eye in the tree, the meaning of the shadows and so on. Alice in wonderland? Really? I choose not to see this as an insult to the viewing crowd but deeper inside of me, I guess it is. Of course it is. It's like me showing a pure snapshot of my kid running and coming up with metaphors about life and death and the Ying and the Yang. How much Bullsh*t could I come up with and still be taken seriously? Hell, it's only my kid running in a park, it's only me sitting on the grass and taking a snap in between two sandwich bites while fondling my camera. This is a huge distinction between a multi-million Dollar Hollywood set and a guy snapshooting his kid at the park. But I guess I'm just too stupid and that I'm overestimating the importance of the photographer's intent while shooting.

Actually, I don't think anyone here minds constructive criticism when given politely. And it should be like that btw because, that is what normal people do. .. The problem with nb32 .... He simply doesn't know the meaning of being polite. .. It is as though, it's always a bad day. I have yet to 'see' him on a good day!

I tried in the past but I just didn't have such Big Balls. I will have to live and die with far less internet friends then you, I guess.
NB23 Posted June 26, 2011 Share #15 Posted June 26, 2011 And maybe I simply have bad taste. That is entirely possible. And I am too biased to acknowledge it, unfortunately.
azzo Posted June 26, 2011 Share #16 Posted June 26, 2011 You just don't get it!!! This has nothing to do with praising images just for the sake. .. This has to do with ''how'' you be constructive. ... Your way simply does not work!

This has to do with ''how'' you be constructive. ... Your way simply does not work! Well, to my defense, the creator of Alice in Wonderland apparently was on Acid when he created the story. And let's be honest for a moment here: Blind praise seems to be the number 1 Sport around these forums. That, and the round of very warm thank yous just before the posts jump on page-2. But it's ok!! I Leica and we all Leica so why no Likey Leica Likey? After all, I Leica you Leica, Leica?

NB23 Posted June 26, 2011 Share #19 Posted June 26, 2011 To be honest and quite frank ..... I'm really not sure who's on Acid. .. If you were to ask me, I would say you're the one. Having another of those days are you? Being on Acid is not necessarily bad. I'm not sure if you're trying to insult me or what but I kinda like giving the impression that I'm a Crazy Artist on drugs and all. I mean, why not? Jimmy Hendricks, Jim Morrison and friends gained huge success and credibility thanks to Acid.
euston Posted June 26, 2011 Share #20 Posted June 26, 2011 The problem with nb32 .... He simply doesn't know the meaning of being polite. .. It is as though, it's always a bad day. I have yet to 'see' him on a good day! I didn’t read any impoliteness in his initial remarks. Nenad wasn’t convinced that Peter’s intention when he took the photo was as he described it and he didn’t shrink from saying so. Only the photographer knows whether he was correct or not but it was fair comment, in my opinion. Some photographers believe that intention matters, that it’s not good enough to take a picture and then read a story into it. It isn’t a conviction that I share but it is a perfectly valid one. I prefer not to read the photographer’s interpretation of the picture until I’ve found my own. In this case, I would have left the viewers to make their own interpretation of the picture, having guided them with the title and the vignetting and the deepening of the shadows. We are always being urged to be less anodyne in our comments about the photographs posted here but as soon as someone is honestly critical, they get blamed for it. But not by Peter himself, I am pleased to note.
