Uncropped 1/60sec f16 ISO 200 ... i.e. at closest possible focus. The wasp is approx 18 mm long so magnification on the sensor is approx 0.4 magnification Above image with slight crop Crop of first image to show detail Slight crop 1/20 sec f16 ISO 200 ... apologies for the pin showing. Subject illumination: Window light plus paper reflector. Elpro VIb lenses adapted to fit via glassless 43mm filter mount and used at 46mm focal length (70mm FF equivalent) Leitz Elpro 'R' c/u lenses are highly corrected achromats (two element) originally designed for use with Leica R lenses; they can produce good close up results when adapted for use with the Leica X1, X2 and X-Vario. dkCambridgeshire Posted August 11, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted August 11, 2013 thanks a lot for showing these fine results with Elpro.Amazing details and a good series of macros. I'll order one for my X1 as well. You will need to make the adaptor to fit the first Elpro VIb to the X-vario camera - and then add additional Elpros to achieve the required magnification: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-x1-forum/290328-q-d-coin-photography-x-vario.html Using Elpros with the X1 and X2 is easier: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-x1-forum/238563-improving-x1-x2-macro-performance.html dunk

stuny Posted August 12, 2013 Share #6 Posted August 12, 2013 Dunk - Lovely. On this side of the Atlantic wasps are not yellow and black but are all black or all dark brown.
dkCambridgeshire Posted August 12, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted August 12, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you for your compliments . I like wasps - wonderful creatures which have evolved over millions of years to the benefit of the environment. Unfortunately many people do not like them because they 'sting' and because they do not appreciate all their good deeds eg cleaning up the environment and recycling waste matter ... in the same way that ants do. All God's creatures. If the beach bums dont like them maybe they should not make so much mess on the beaches to attract them dunk
