buckster Posted January 17, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 17, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) My search is over for a filter adapter tube. The maker is www.kiwifotos.com Available many places but got mine on ebay for $24 with free shipping. Also ordered a Heliopan UV and Heliopan Circular Polarizer (All German). I'll attach a couple photos when I get it. It allows the use of any 49mm filter...sweet! I had a Lumix made tube on my D-Lux4 and it was fantastic. h00ligan Posted January 17, 2011 Share #3 Posted January 17, 2011 Looks just like the nikon, let us know if the threads are the proper length please!
buckster Posted January 17, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted January 17, 2011 Kind of similar, but not really. The Nikon one, did not work, the threads were male/ female instead of female/female so you had to turn it around backwards and then find a female/female adapter to screw the filters in place. so no, it really doesn't look"just like the Nikon". If you look at the second link on my post, you can see in the photos just how well it fits and with no vignetting. What it does look like is the one that Lumix made for their version of the D-Lux 4 and that also worked perfectly and with great results. Koizumi13 Posted January 17, 2011 Share #8 Posted January 17, 2011 I purchased one of these approx. 1 week ago and I'm looking forward to getting it in the mail. My only gripe thus far is the "it takes 17-25 days for delivery to the US". I find the seller's disclaimer ridiculous & it suggests that these units are not manufactured yet (?). I do know that Kiwi does not sell directly to the public. They have contracted a couple of sellers to handle the plebian end of things. Who knows, maybe this thang will show up sooner than 17-25 days from now

Who knows, maybe this thang will show up sooner than 17-25 days from now They're selling direct from China. China post takes a long time for delivery. I ordered some lens hoods before Christmas, and they took over four weeks to arrive. I bet it's the same factory that makes the Nikon adapters just with revised threading. I'm glad someone finally made a solution. I can stop grinding off and rethreading Nikon adapters one by one. However, I will miss seeing everyone's various innovations that have popped up over the past year.

Guest Posted January 18, 2011 Share #13 Posted January 18, 2011 Mind to tell me how you make this filter adapter? i take a tube from fotolinsen24 for nikon 8400.fits perfect . i press a 49mm filter inside the tube(you have to abrade the filter,so it fits strong, it looks better when the filter and the lens is close together),add some parts like an old rubber band and some stickers and an leica( like) hood(52mm) from china....that´s it ! on the pict you see the form, i like the different diameter of the adapter .... Photojazz Posted January 18, 2011 Share #14 Posted January 18, 2011 only 2 left available, yup, I just bought with 3 left. The self built solution sounded great, but I couldn't even understand what you did, let alone know where to get the necessary stuff other than rubber bands. Even though I am quite adept at DIY solutions, $24 bucks delivered someday, is ok. lol. Now I need a 49mm step up ring. 77mm is target, but I have stepups from other sizes to 77 as well, so I can combine if necessary to get to 77mm. buckster Posted January 18, 2011 Author Share #15 Posted January 18, 2011 I actually bought mine on EBay for $18.99 with free shipping. I bought on Sat the 15th, shipped today (Jan18th) and will receive on Jan 20-21st. The company was called Rainbowimaging, out of Newe York, not Hong Kong. Click on the link below. 49MM Lens Adapter Tube for Leica X1 X-1 Digital Camera - eBay (item 330519595624 end time Feb-13-11 22:00:26 PST) I noticed that he changed his BIN price from $18.99 to $23.99...still a bargain with free shipping, especially sinnce some folks here were considering paying $65 -$100 to have a company faricate some...or the garbage that some were hack sawing and gerry-rigging together. h00ligan Posted January 18, 2011 Share #16 Posted January 18, 2011 I'm not sure garbage would be an appropriate term. A couple of members did a good or even great job. No need to insult people, keep it constructive please.

Koizumi13 Posted January 19, 2011 Share #18 Posted January 19, 2011 A thought just occurred to me: perhaps the shipping is delayed due to Chinese New Years. The entire country shuts down for 2 to 3 weeks. That means that EMS and regular post packages will be rotting away in Chinese postal warehouses for up to 1 month! I completely forgotten about this issue.
buckster Posted January 19, 2011 Author Share #19 Posted January 19, 2011 Hooligan, Sorry about that, in retrospect, that was a bit harsh... I have seen more than one home-made solution here and at other sites and some (but not all) were a bit harsh and not worthy of putting on a Leica.
