malsop Posted April 8, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 8, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I need the Leica correction lenses for the RF viewfinders. I purchased 4 for the M9 (+0.5 through +2.0) and found the +0.5 provided the clearest image for my aging eyes. Before the M240 arrived I purchased another +0.5 but now that I have the M240 I've found a +1.0 provides a clearer image. To double-check I compared the view in the M9 to the view in the M240 with different correction lenses side-by-side. The +1.0 was too much for the M9 and the +0.5 was too little for the M240. So that leaves me wondering if Leica changed the viewfinder optics. I know they went back to a 2 m default on the frame lines but I don't think that would necessitate a change from the -0.5 diopter they built into the M9 viewfinder. Anyone else have this experience? hhmrogers Posted April 9, 2013 Share #2 Posted April 9, 2013 I just shoot with my glasses on, have done for years and have never met problems. My 'camera eye' lens doesn't seem to pick up scratches either.
jaapv Posted April 9, 2013 Share #3 Posted April 9, 2013 I don't think so; the dioptre correction goes in steps of 0.5 dioptre. If the value of your eye is somewhere in-between, one correction or the other will be best subjectively. I find for instance that a +0.5 correction glass works best for me on the M6 and a +1.0 one on the M9. In the end it is usually trial and error. chris_tribble Posted April 9, 2013 Share #4 Posted April 9, 2013 Interesting - though with my longsighted eyes I find the +3.5 diopters I used on my M9s work perfectly with the M-240.
algrove Posted April 9, 2013 Share #5 Posted April 9, 2013 I find that using my MM and M240 I do not correct for anything (maybe I should) since my focusing seems to be spot on more often than not. I just seem to hit focus better on the M240 than I remember with the M9. Just had my MM come back from Leica for sensor cleaning and asked them to recalibrate (just in case) and have so emmersed in my new M for the time being the MM is taking a back seat so far.
