Printmaker Posted January 18, 2008 Share #1 Posted January 18, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is anyone using a Fogg Flute as a belt holster for their M8? If so, what do you think of this bag? Any other ideas for a belt bag? Thanks in advance. Tom
Advertisement Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Hi Printmaker, Take a look here Fogg Flute. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
chris_tribble Posted January 18, 2008 Share #2 Posted January 18, 2008 Best I've found is a LowePro bum bag + lens pack. Perfect with M8+28 or 35 + a 75/90or 134 Apo Telyt. Mountains, streets, backstage - works for me all the time.

Printmaker Posted January 18, 2008 Author Share #7 Posted January 18, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just say NO to Fanny Packs! How about maybe? Let me explain a bit more. Quite a bit of the shoreline here is lava fields. Having a camera hanging around your neck or a bag over your shoulder is dangerous to body and gear when you're climbing up and down the flows. I was thinking about something small that acted as a holster for my M8. Something that kept it safe and accessible. Thanks again.
photolandscape Posted January 18, 2008 Share #8 Posted January 18, 2008 I used the Fogg Flute a few years ago when I had an M6 and a 35mm Summicron. It is beautifully made of first-rate materials, as you'd expect for the relatively high price. If you are looking for something that is elegant, tough, well-made, and with a nice lining to protect your camera, I'd recommend it. I also had a Fogg Piccolo that I used to carry my 90mm Elmarit, and that was equally good. It makes for a minimal, lightweight, unobtrusive way to carry your camera and equipment. joelbartlett Posted January 18, 2008 Share #10 Posted January 18, 2008 I have one and use it, but not as a belt holster. Instead, I use the velcro "butterfly" on the back to attach it to the shoulder strap of my backpack. It seems to work fine with the M8 and either a 28/2.8 ASPH Elmarit, or a 50/2 Summicron. Daniel Ortego Posted January 19, 2008 Share #13 Posted January 19, 2008 Nope, don’t have the “Flute” but unless you can see it and touch it, I would think twice. I placed a down payment and ordered a Fogg bag in early November and it’s still not here. I contacted the supplier and was told, “...that’s just the way it goes” with Fogg. They are just two guys in the south of France and they could only do so much so be real patient on anything that has to be made from scratch. Frank Sprow Posted January 20, 2008 Share #14 Posted January 20, 2008 You might try Stan Tamarkin in New York. They often have a limited selection of Fogg bags.

Daniel Ortego Posted January 20, 2008 Share #17 Posted January 20, 2008 It's been reported that Tamarkin NY is no longer. However, their website is still active.g. That's just great since that is where I ordered mine! However, I spoke to them about three weeks ago (early Jan) and they sure sounded like they were still active to me. I suppose I could contact Fogg direct, but I'll hold a bit longer since that could get ugly if things are just slow as reported. Regards,
endustry Posted February 16, 2008 Share #18 Posted February 16, 2008 Tamarkin just closed the NY retail store from what I understand. Their original location in Connecticut is still in business. I guess they were just doing way more business online and could no longer justify Manhattan rents. That's just great since that is where I ordered mine! However, I spoke to them about three weeks ago (early Jan) and they sure sounded like they were still active to me. Printmaker Posted February 17, 2008 Author Share #20 Posted February 17, 2008 That French Amo Bag looks good. Could be a bit hard to find out here in the middle of the Pacific. I tried the Mountainsmith Aurora II but sent it back because it was too close to my Domkey. I might try Peter's pouch... Leica User Forum Classifieds - Pouch for Leica M or other Range Finder - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds. Or I might just get Luigi's half case. But that may wait a few weeks as the state and fed tax man just about emptied my account. Ah Hawaii, land of taxes. Tom
