Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere but I found that Shuttle 2,2 is now available on the Owners Area of Leica-Camera.com. Slightly to my surprise, I seems to work properly with the M240 and my MF grip which arrived today. I had thought that 2.2 was not due until next year. I have not got it working seamlessly yet with Lightroom but that is probably a configuration issue. It does show a snapshot of your last image - see test photo below.

Thanks Wilson, for the information! I am downloading now, but currently my MF Grip has been returned for replacement. Have another on the way. When it arrives I will experiment with Shuttle. I was told possibly incorrectly(?), that you "do not" need image shuttle when tethering to Lightroom. I do not need any Canon-proprietary software to tether to either Lightroom or C1Pro, but the M might be different?

I have been reading up about tethering in Lightroom. Adobe’s own help says that if you are using another app that is using the tether connection to the camera, Lightroom will probably not be able to establish a connection. So it looks as if it might be Image Shuttle or Lightroom. The advantage of Image Shuttle is you can control the camera from the app, which as far as I know, you cannot do from Lightroom. I wonder if you could get smart and use a wifi card to download to Lightroom as you use Image Shuttle to control the camera.

I am going to try some time elapse photography tomorrow. I am not sure I would use this enough to warrant the purchase of the quite sportingly priced external power adapter, which you would need for long period time elapse photography.

I have twigged the way that Lightroom works with Image Shuttle. You set Lightroom to Automatic Import and then make sure the location it looks in is the same as you have set for Image Shuttle to save the images it takes. The images taken with Image Shuttle are NOT stored in the SD card in the camera but in the tethered computer. I think I may be able to get this to work with Capture One as well, which is my preferred RAW/DNG developer.

Hello again: I think I'm going to hold-off on additional replies, given that I can't experiment with my absent-grip! You're describing setting up a "Lightroom watched" folder, a method I had to use in very early iterations of Lightroom when I shot "only-Canon". Back then I found the process to be buggy, but honestly can't remember what the negative issues were. Regarding the wi-fi card, I find tethered capture to be slow enough, and the thought of trying to transfer fast-shooting raw files thru a network would drive me crazy! In retrospect, I wish Canon and Leica would have enabled USB-3 for the tether. That would increase transfer speed & reliability IMO. Will reply again when my replacement grip is delivered.

The method for Capture One is similar to what you write about Lightroom. Point Capture One to the computer folder containing the images. This is not an import into Capture One.

I can't get it to work.

I just get "connect the camera" and then nothing.

Can someone advise please?

(latest firmware, MF grip, USB connection)

I suspect you may not have the USB mode in the camera set to “PTP” in the USB mode in the menu.

Actually I do. Other suggestions?

Mac or Windows? If Mac, I can suggest some diagnostics but if Windows, someone else will have to help you, as I have now been 100% Mac for 12 years and totally out of date on Windows.
