I have a Schneider 5cm f/1.5 War Xenon on my Leica II.This is a different lens to the Leitz Xenon version.Does anybody else have a lens like mine and would anybody know if the design and configuration of the Schneider version is the same or is it different to the Leitz version of this lens.

Any information would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks,

I also noted that the lens was not as long as the Summarit/Leitz Xenon. The Leitz Xenon split the rear element of the standard 1-2-2-1 in two elements of lesser strength for a 1-2-2-1-1 configuration. My Simlar 5cm F1.5 went for a 1-3-2-1 configuration, split the front section's doublet into a triplet. It is shorter than the Summarit, but looks longer than this Xenon. I wonder if the F1.5 Schneider Xenon stuck to the 1-2-2-1 configuration of the F2 Xenon, stretched the design to F1.5?

Hi Brian,

I am sending it to my Leica repairer to be cleaned and serviced so I will ask him to investigate when he services the lens and will post on here and RFf regarding his findings re. configuration.

Regards,

William
