Advertisement Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Hi Doc Henry, Take a look here Champagne vineyard in winter. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Michael Hiles Posted January 11, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 11, 2009 Bonjour Henry, I particularly like #2. Interestingly, there is no clue to the great wine that comes from these vines. Félicitations,
Doc Henry Posted January 11, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted January 11, 2009 Great thanks Michael for looking and comments Merci "there is no clue to the great wine that comes from these vines" Yes, i agree with you.....in winter we have just a stem and limb without leaves like a naked woman, but people here say without winter, vineyard will not be good.... and after some months later * , we can appreciate a so wonderful drink named "champagne" * like you can see here: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/people/73833-women-people-vintage.html an other picture Welcome, dear visitor! paga Posted February 11, 2009 Share #4 Posted February 11, 2009 I like that last one a lot, it makes me want to take a stroll down that path and enjoy the sight of this beautifull countryside... Your composition is appealing, the light is great and just soft enough IMHO, some geometry very well handled: it is a great landscape photo
Doc Henry Posted February 11, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted February 11, 2009 Thanks Paga for looking and for your comments. You are welcome if you come here, so you can appreciate and taste good champagne like me here : http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/people/76320-you-so-beautiful.html and also visit the cave and the vineyard. The best season : summer for the beauty of the region (vineyard, grape, fresh weather) or october for vintage.

louloumum Posted February 11, 2009 Share #8 Posted February 11, 2009 If you ask me the last ones are the best. Couldn't say for sure that this doesn't somehow have to do with my own going back to film... Nothing at all the matter with the digital ones though - fine shots altogether ! All the best _______________________ Marie-Louise
michali Posted February 11, 2009 Share #9 Posted February 11, 2009 Henri- Beautiful series nicely composed and captured. Makes me want to open a bottle of champagne right now!

paga Posted February 11, 2009 Share #11 Posted February 11, 2009 Really hard to decide between these two versions, I am not a fan of the debate film vs digital because I value both as you know (shooting both M8 & MP)... however like I told you elsewhere the ones you shot with the M8 look like you are getting more into the subject, a bit closer, although I think it has a lot to do with the x1.33 factor vs film on the M7 where your composition is a bit more open, and I like it too, a lot actually! Hi Paga; Great debate isn't ? Just let the photo the moment and let me compare it with the music, per exemple a piano you hear at the concert hall and the piano you hear through your high fidelity amplifier and loudspeakers a good amplifier must reproduce the same sound as you hear in the concert That's one of the high fidelity condition.....without distortion..... Finally High fidelity for piano High fidelity for colors Best regards Henry Paga, I have valves amplifier : do you know that ?
paga Posted February 11, 2009 Share #13 Posted February 11, 2009 I am not surprised by your reference about music (and choice of hardware), you are a Purist obviously!

allamande Posted February 12, 2009 Share #15 Posted February 12, 2009 Henry, Great series! There seems to be an added richness to the Portra renditions here. I suspect you can get the same effect in PP with the digital. But overall, the film versions seem deeper in saturation and depth. Beautiful images all around, no matter. Thank you for all of them! Doc Henry Posted February 12, 2009 Author Share #16 Posted February 12, 2009 Thanks Allamande for looking and pleasant comments. I will make some more tests and i will propose post here . About PP, i am not a fan of the "treatment"....except for my job i think you must have great experience and it's reserved for professionnals It's too complicated for me and it costs a lot of money for buying PP, Capture One,Sefex ..... digbyhp Posted February 17, 2009 Share #17 Posted February 17, 2009 Doc, to my eye there is a distinct difference between the M8 and M7 pics. The M7 + Portra photos look much better saturated, and sharper. I don't know why, but the M8 pics just look soft in comparison.

louloumum Posted February 17, 2009 Share #19 Posted February 17, 2009 Well, I prefer the last one...to me it's more characteristic somehow. (I would dare to guess that's the M7-version isn't it ?) All the best ____________________ Marie-Louise

All the best Marie-Louise Marie Louise,You are right that's M7 picture with Portra 400VC Iso I prefer the second one too ! it's really like i saw ! deeper and more "matter" in the film ! the ground is brown and the vineyard deep brown snow is more white !
