ns_ng Posted January 3, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 3, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just got back from a shooting trip in Inner Mongolia. We were in Bashang, about 300km north of Beijing, in the grassland region. One early morning the temperature went to as low as -25 deg C. My breath iced up my glasses as well the the M240 lcd. According to our guide, last year the temperature went to as low as -35 deg C, with snow as deep as 2m. This year there is less snow and we were able to reach the most remote parts of Bashang in our 4WD vehicles. But the M240 behaved well, continued working even with the EVF. The M8 did not fare well, as it failed to trigger after about 20 mins in the cold. Here are some images from this trip. More to follow. Welcome, dear visitor! Those are beautiful photos!! I've been to Bashang couple times in different season. It's really a good place for photographing... I believe that you saw lots of serious "big guns" over there... But I used Canon not leica, so I can't post my photos here, if you are interested you could take a look at here Can't wait for more of your photos... Yes, saw many photographers from other parts of China, usually with large zoom lenses on large tripods. The longest lens I brought along was the 180mm Apo-Elmarit. I shot mainly wide, WATE, 28mm, 35mm. I did not want to bring along my DSLR with a large zoom. Nice photos. Here are a few more captures, Welcome, dear visitor! giodic Posted January 3, 2014 Share #8 Posted January 3, 2014 Wonderful series, great colors, but the last in B&W is my favorite...
Iduna Posted January 3, 2014 Share #9 Posted January 3, 2014 Oh, what a magnificent series. All are equally good. Those from sunrise"sunset with the rose tinge and golden touch are my favourites probably. But those with the singel tree and 2 people as silhouettes are also nice. The B&W tree is amazing. I am looking forward very much for more of this strange world

allamande Posted January 5, 2014 Share #13 Posted January 5, 2014 Gorgeous series. What's also interesting to me is that there isn't a particularly unique feature that I can discern about this location in these shots. They are all very beautiful, textbook case shots. Great work! ns_ng Posted January 7, 2014 Author Share #16 Posted January 7, 2014 Beautiful photos! Glad to see you had a great cold-weather trip with your Leica! Thanks. The advice from a few of you in another thread was very helpful. Not only the M240 survived the cold, but I did as well. I will post a few more. ns_ng Posted January 7, 2014 Author Share #17 Posted January 7, 2014 Thanks for all the kind comments. Here are a few more from this series, The location of the first 3 images is at a frozen river early in the morning. With the sunlight just over the horizon, the soft light gave the place a pastel like landscape. The colour changes as the sun rose higher. Welcome, dear visitor!
