daveleo Posted February 20, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 20, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't know where to put this, so here it is. I got tired of carrying around a little tripod (that sometimes couldn't find a support surface), so I made this neat little "ballpod" to me steady my D2. Simply a wood ball from a craft store with a 1/4 X 20 rod stuck into it. Might even substitute a cabinet knob or something if you want a flatter surface at the bottom. Works just fine for what it's designed to do. If you are hobby-handy, this is easy to make.

pop Posted February 20, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 20, 2010 Dave - that's a splendid idea. I wonder if a rubber ball might do as well.

farnz Posted February 21, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 21, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dave, With an eggcup you'd have a make-shift, er ... ball-and-cup pod(?) that would be free-standing. Pete,

Pete, actually i was in the habit of using a small ballhead for this purpose, but even that was too big if left on all the time. . . so basically i torched the base ! daveleo Posted February 21, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted February 21, 2010 actually i was just messing with this again and simply stuck a small 1/4 X 20 machine screw inside a small ball of modeling clay (with the end sticking out to screw to the camera) . . . the clay kind of molds itself to whatever surface you press it to . . . . the silliness endless (if you have the time)
