Just wanted to get this out in case anyone is in NY from now until October 18th. On the Porsche / leica Trip in Germany when we all got home . We were asked to submit images for exhibit in NY at the Tourneau Watching company. The exhibit is up and if anyone happens to go and take a few snaps of the exhibit , I would love to see how they were done and I am sure the other forum members that went on the trip would also. So here is the info from Justin Stailey at leica on the exhibit if anyone is interested in seeing it. Thanks

The really cool part is for the hobbyists to see there work up in lights for them i am really excited for these really nice folks that went on the trip. Even two of the wives have there stuff up also i believe . BTW i saw a lot of what they where shooting and they did a awesome job for the first time with a V -Lux.

Guy -

A smallish exhibit inhabited by some Leica gear, and 911 and the photos. Please see below. If you go there, take the escalator down.

Stuart this is awesome . thanks so much for running over there and doing this. I know i can speak for everyone that we are so very thankful for your efforts. My wife is going to NY next week and i am sending her in there. See never looks at my stuff so this will force her too. looks like they got some nice images of the Porsches which was the main theme it looks like

Guy,

I like the way they cropped the shots on the opposite wall. I agree with you that they did not select what I felt were the best of my shots as well. But it is cool to get them displayed! After coming back and reading up on the specs of the Digilux 3 and the Image Stabilization I did a DOH! and realized that I should have borrowed that because most of my shots had some blur to them caused by the bumps.

Agreed it would have been also nice to know this was avaliable to us. I know i would have put more effort in shooting the cars. But it's cool anyway and happy for everyone

Guy and others in the Tourneau exhibition,

I had a look at the exhibition today and it was nice to see. Stuart's photo's do an excellent job of capturing the spirit of the show. I will add that there is audio playing continuously, several themes related to Porsche. There are five Leica cameras and a few lenses on view in the wall case including a black M8 and a red M7 - matches red Porsche on view nicely, (no R, however!). Porsche and Leica should be pleased to have such fine work. The show was sponsored by Manhattan Motor Sports. You can find them on the web.

P.S. Guy, You will have no problem sending your wife in there to check it out - it is right on 57th street across from Dior, YSL, Bergdorf is on the corner . . . the list is endless! And it is in Tourneau!

My wife Carolyn and I enjoyed the Leica Porsche trip to Germany this June and contributed to the images displayed at the Tourneau exhibit. This weekend we were able to visit the exhibit . Although we have been scooped by others in NYC , we were on the trip and have seen many of the images either during the trip or in the review process. Tourneau s store on 57th street I believe is one of if not the largest watch store in the world . Watch collecting being my other hobby , we had to move through the store quickly before I could find anything. First the Tourneau exhibit is really about Porsche...the bright red 911 overshadows everything else in the room. The photographs really compliment the display rather than being the main purpose..and they do a nice job. The main wall behind the car includes 5 20x30 prints..all of Porsches and another 26 small prints about 8x10 . What may not be apparent from photos is that many of the small prints are sections of larger images ....for example a headlight from one of the cars . This makes a nice display but hardly the best way to showcase Leica Photography. I would call this the Porsche Wall. On the other side Leica has prominent posters of equipment that frame two sections of 6 prints each...these are about 11x14. In total I had 3 different images ..the yellow and silver closeups in the 20x30 section and one landscape of Ludwigs castle....they were repeated 3 times each. In all there are probably less than 20 original images. Leica has a section on the left as you come in with cameras and lenses behind glass. This is where Tourneau might showcase a watch brand exhibit. One of the images posted is of the Poster for the Event ..sorry about the nasty reflection.....the image was taken by David Farkas. The final image posted is a listing of the contributors ..all of which you should recognize as contributors to the forum. We enjoyed the exhibit..obviously ...but it doesn t represent the best work of the contributors from the trip . Carolyn and I had over 3000 images to choose from ..so the group must have had near 30,000. This was not a planned promotion so we didn t have any of the "day in the life" mind set ....next time we will be ready. Overall Leica really did a nice job complimenting Porsche and the products really do seem to go together. If you are in NYC its worth the visit.
