marknorton Posted May 22, 2012 Share #1 Posted May 22, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) In anticipation of Leica having something interesting to show us at Photokina (and hopefully not made of wood like the first S lenses), I've booked today, €29 but the catalogue is the same price which seems quite high. Still, that and about €60 for a return flight on 18 September on GermanWings to Cologne seems a good day out...

johnbuckley Posted May 22, 2012 Share #2 Posted May 22, 2012 Mark - so glad to hear you are going, but remember, you have to buy the M10 before you are allowed to disassemble it.
Messsucherkamera Posted May 23, 2012 Share #3 Posted May 23, 2012 ...remember, you have to buy the M10 before you are allowed to disassemble it. Make that "before you are allowed to look at it" (new marketing strategy).

lars_bergquist Posted May 23, 2012 Share #6 Posted May 23, 2012 Honestly, it is quite possible – I would even call it a toss-up – that the M10 will NOT be launched at this year's Photokina. And when it is launched, it may not even be named the M10. Instead, the launching that the May 15 entertainment was meant to clear the decks for, may well be the presumed (and promised) new electronic viewfinder camera. That project is far more vital to Leica's future than any further development of the traditional M concept. That project is far more vital to Leica's future than any further development of the traditional M concept. The old man from the Age of the M3 Lars, you may or may not be right about how the EVIL camera stacks up against the M system in terms of Leica's future, but given a) the hints about the importance Leica is according this year's Photokina, the reported prominence of their physical presence there, and c) Dr. K's clear hedging on whether or not such a camera would be available by then (in press interviews on May 10th), I think the notion that there will be some kind of new M system offering -- whatever it may be called -- is fairly likely. My reading of the tea leaves.
