... could I make another suggestion for a modification to the forum, please? :)

Currently there is a navigation bar at the top of a thread page which is very useful for moving about and also has the added function of marking the thread you are leaving as read. If you just click the back button on your browser or right click your mouse and select back, it does return you the the lounge but does not mark the thread as read.

Could the navigation bar be repeated at the bottom of the thread page so that when you have read all the posts you don't have to scroll all the way to the top of the page to find it? I have seen this in operation elsewhere and it makes navigating the forum just that bit more slick! :D

If I click on the back button now the thread will show as not read in the lounge. If you are

going through a long list of threads, in the photo lounge for instance, you could repeat

this action many times and the threads will still show as not read. If you cannot remember

the name of the last thread you looked at and get distracted, it can be a

minor pain to find out where you were. Leaving the thread via the navigation bar does

not give you this problem.

Is there a good reason for not adding the navigation bar to the bottom of a thread?

I see. When you use the "back" button of the browser (any browser), then the browser will just show you that page exactly as it was before. You have to refresh the page. You will only see the threads as "visited" when the server sends you another copy of that page.

As far as I can tell that is something the browser does; the forum software has no say in this. It doesn’t even know you went back to the previous page.

Indeed and that is not really my point. I'm quite happy with what the browser does :)
