jimleicam3 Posted July 3, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 3, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I just got a new VF-2 viewfinder and seem to be having some problems. 1) I can not figure out how to review photos after they are taken on the back monitor. 2) With the viewfinder in place, when I go to the Opt. Viewfinder on the menu, it is grayed out and I can not switch from off to on. Does this happen with the Leica viewfinder? Is there a way to view photos? Thanks, Jim

jimleicam3 Posted July 3, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted July 3, 2013 Thanks for the input, however, looking at the menu through the VF-2, I still have a grayed out Opt. Viewfinder. If I take the viewfinder off, and turn the Opt. Viewfinder to on via the monitor screen, as soon as I put the VF-2 back on the camera, it switches back to off. The viewfinder works, even with the setting set to off. Thanks
Fotograph Posted July 3, 2013 Share #4 Posted July 3, 2013 It worked with X2 and the Leica Viefinder, but Not with Olympus - do Leica make Olympus working with X2 impossible??
jimleicam3 Posted July 3, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted July 3, 2013 It seems to work fine, just seems odd that the menu claims it is off. Anyone else have a similar problem? Cheers
calithumpian Posted July 4, 2013 Share #6 Posted July 4, 2013 The optical viewfinder option turns off the LCD so you can use an optical (as opposed to electronic) viewfinder. If you scroll down to the menu option 'Play on Monitor' and switch it to off, you will be able to review images through the Olympus electronic viewfinder and switch between viewfinder and LCD using the button on the viewfinder as during shooting. Exactly so. The optical viewfinder is not the same as evf-2, which is a electronic viewfinder. Optical = old school, classical viewfinder made of glass(or sometimes plastic). //Juha Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
dhsimmonds Posted July 5, 2013 Share #8 Posted July 5, 2013 Olympus are on the VF4 now but even that needs a firmware update before it will work on pre latest Pen camera (EP-5). I dare say when it's been around for a while, Leica may be given the option for a firmware update to the vario for it's use. It is a gorgeous instrument though with a larger VF screen and a built in adjustable diopter eye adjustment.
