Attn: Olympus VF-1 DOES NOT fit into X1 hot shoe!

On the suggestion of someone on this forum, I ordered an Olympus VF-1 from Amazon. It arrived today as did my X1. Lo and behold, the VF-1 will NOT fit. I could maybe get it half way in the hot shoe. Darn it. I was hoping this would work. Anyone else have similar issues?

I had similar issue with a remote flash trigger. It turns out it was a bit too wide. I used decorating knife to trim it a bit on the sides (it was plastic).

Hi Tom. Yes, I had the problem too. Screw the plate (two screws) at the foot of

Viewfinder off and grind 1 / 10 to 2 / 10 mm Material on this. Then it fits!

I think it was me who suggested it I saw it on another forum and the guy told me it's the VF1 but I didn't ask if he had to do any modifications... Sorry...

After some slight sanding, the Oly VF works great!

UPDATE!

I have bought, for a sharp price a second hand Olympus VF-1, after reading this post I assume that it won't fit on my X2. But it fit perfectly, the man that I buy the viewfinder from had used it on a Oly pen. So maybe the Flash socket is different between the X1 and X2.
