New pic of Seal's M

A nice-looking bit of camera hardware. Seeing the guy with just a single camera and lens reminds me of the days in the 1970s when I would go on holiday with girlfriend, M2 and 35mm f2.8 Summaron. (But we didn’t need the services of a burly bodyguard.)

With the official launch just over two weeks away, the M9-P is presumably in full production already so that dealers will have some to sell on the day.

Best regards,

Doug

How does he operate it with his flippers?

Best with the lens cap on.

(Ok celebrities watchers: please one pic of Brian Adams with a Leica with the lens cap on).

The only guy who was photographed with a lens cap was HCB, because his colapsible Summicron had such a sensitive coating. It was on a leather handle in his left hand and he was as fast as these two accomplished stars with their guitars.

Hope you kept at least the lens - not asking about the M2 (or the girlfriend:p).

My Summaron 35/2.8 still amazes me on the M9.

Still have the M2.

Still have the Summaron.

Still have the girl.

What a lucky guy I am!

The lens is the screw-mount version, which I inherited from my father, along with his IIIb, 5cm Elmar and Summar, and 9cm Elmar. My brother has his IIIc, 3.5cm Elmar, 5cm Summitar, and 135mm Elmar, but has fallen from the One True Faith and now uses a point & shoot.

Best regards,

Doug

Great. I had to Google ‘’Seal’’ to find out who he is. Now I really don’t care.

The point here was the camera, not the guy carrying it, who happens to be a genuine Leica nut and (by most accounts) a good guy. But that's by-the-by, some of us are interested in the new M9-P which Leica have furnished him with, almost certainly as a form of viral marketing.

If neither interest you, please move along - there's enough miserablism on this forum already.

I think the 'miserablism' compliments all the gushingness quite well. You can't have one without the other and expect to achieve balance.

"miserablism" = a fine new(?) word?????

If so we have achieved something at last:D

Google, however, reveals we have failed miserably:"The word was coined, actually, by the Pet Shop Boys, in their song from Alternative, essentially making fun of the kind of music, typified by The Smiths, that seemed to wallow in self-pity. The song is a favorite. It is good-natured, not hostile to Miserablists. Since then, the word has come into fairly common usage.

So at least there is no hostility:)
