jc_braconi Posted February 21, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 21, 2009 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) The Leica I B Compur camera, has a similar body shape to the Leica I, however this model is different being the only Leica ever produced to feature a between-the lens-shutter. Film advance is carried out by depressing a large mushroom shaped release button next to the external counter and then winding on in the normal way. The shutter is not connected to the film wind and must be separately tensioned. This is done by cocking the large lever mounted on the rim of the shutter, the release is mounted on the opposite side. No double exposure mechanism is incorporated. The dial set model had speeds from 1 second to 1/300 plus B and T mounted on a circular control dial located on the front of the shutter. The ring model has the speeds engraved round the shutter ring. Code word is LECUR. Production period from 1926 to 1946, 638 ex. with dial set and 1072 ex. with ring set. Ring models, illustrated a pair of them. One is in its genuine ever ready case, the other wears a FODUA range finder, by sides an early WINKO right angle viewfinder with genuine leather case and a FILCA single room film cassette container. Included also are some 1928 instructions booklets, German editions. Edited December 22, 2010 by jc_braconi
