Hi, I just found this little kit and I have a question:

Did Leitz sell just the 90mm head with the ZOOEF, without the normal Summicron focusing mount?

I only got what is in the picture when I bought the equipment and the original owner did not recall having a regular focusing mount for it.

Thanks,

Gunnar

FINE !!!

Yes, the lenses with a short mount for Viso were sold also in this version, without the normal mount for body (that, in turn was available as a separate item); it's the joy of lovers of old Leitz codes... :) ... for a certain lens you had :

- The code of the standard lens

- The code of the lens in short mount

- The code of the short mount

- The code of the long mount

- The code of the lens unit only (not for all... surely for the Elmar 135, do not remember if also the lens unit of the Summicron 90 was available alone)

When at home, I can find easily the code of your fine item...

BTW; I seem to remember that the code of the short mount was ZOOEP, not ZOOEF (i have one)... but not 100% sure...I'll check

Gunnar, I love TOO MUCH this kind of old Leitz gear... so here's to you the codes, in case you haven't them...

- Your item (Summicron 90 short mount with preset diaphragm) is 11126 previously OERDO (the version with standard diaphragm ring was 11124 / OESBO)

- The lens unit only was also available with code 11132 (no equiv. 5 letter code.. released after the change of coding system)

- The short mount only was, as said, 16463 / ZOOEP

- Want to mount it directly on a SM body ? Search for 14017 / ZOOUK ! So you'll have a 11023 / SEEOF

- Ditto, but on a BM body ? Trivial to use the SM/BM adapter... find a 14019 / ZOMUK ! And this will bring to 11123 / SEOOM (or SEEOF-M)

- Just to be precise... the lenses in standard long mount were NOT supplied with the preset diaphragm... but you could add it ordering INVOO / 00001 (strange numerical code...)

And finally... if you want to use your item for macro on the Visoflex... that's easy ! With the ring 16474 / OUEPO you can focus to 60 cm (1:4,5 ratio - very simple - screwed between short mount and lens unit, I have it...) , or if you want REAL macro (to 1:1), take the Leitz bellows and mount the lens unit on it, using the ring 16598 / UOOZK

EH EH EH :) enjoy these splendid devices ! I made macro with Summicron 90 + Viso on M8 ! Well... for strong macro the Tele Elmarit 135 head is better... but was a great satisfaction to mount everything on the bellows and focusing at f2...

Dear Luigi,

You are certainly a hardcore Leica expert! :)

Thank you very much for lots of useful information. I will try to get some of the parts/rings you described. Firstly the 16474 / OUEPO - I would love to get down to 60cm on the Visoflex (or Canon 5D...)

Best regards,

Gunnar

Taken with M8 or film ? Anyway, your Summicron proves to be the excellent lens it was for years and years... to me all the "old BIGS" (Summicron 90, Summarex 85, Thambar 90, Telyt 400 1st ver.) have a fascination of their own...a taste different from the "jewelry appearance" of "old LITTLES" like Hektor 28 or SA 21 f4...
