nikea Posted August 6, 2013 Share #1 Posted August 6, 2013 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently acquired a Telyt 560/6.8 with Novoflex grip from an old friend. The Novoflex grip is a kind of transition between the C and D versions. It has the bayonet attachment of the lens element to the aperture part, but the aperture part is still detachable from the pistol grip with a bayonet identical to that of the C-version. It lacks the rack-and-pinion adjustment of the extra extension. The lens is, as Doug Herr has shown many times, very sharp. Here is one of my first pictures with the lens: Welcome, dear visitor! sandro Posted August 6, 2013 Share #2 Posted August 6, 2013 Wonderful photo! Very nice to see such great results with such an old lens. On which kind of camera do you use the Telyt? Lex
nikea Posted August 6, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted August 6, 2013 It is a Nikon D800. The Telyt was mounted on a sturdy Gitzo tripod.
sfage Posted August 7, 2013 Share #4 Posted August 7, 2013 The 400mm 6.8 is also very sharp. I just posted a number of photos of penguins on my flickr site. Flickr: ShaneFage's Photostream
nikea Posted August 7, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted August 7, 2013 Here is another example. This time I used a beanbag on the roof of my car. Welcome, dear visitor! k-hawinkler Posted August 15, 2013 Share #6 Posted August 15, 2013 Thanks. Could you please post a picture of the details of your lens? What kind of focusing mechanism does it use?
nikea Posted August 16, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted August 16, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here is a picture of the lens with the Novoflex focusing unit. Squeezing the pistol grip focuses the lens from about 20m to infinity. In addition there is a built in extension tube which can bring the close focus limit down to about 4m. A new release cable has been fitted to match the Nikon 10 pin style. The gimbal head is a modified Manfrotto 393. The other picture shows the lens head (which seems to need a bit of cleaning ...). k-hawinkler Posted August 16, 2013 Share #8 Posted August 16, 2013 (edited) Thanks. I wonder if the optical element is identical or different from this lens? http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-r-leica-flex/275594-telyt-r-560-6-8-puzzle.html#post2341450 And here is how I "enhanced" that very lens. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/2420880-post8.html Edited August 16, 2013 by k-hawinkler
nikea Posted August 16, 2013 Author Share #9 Posted August 16, 2013 (edited) I believe the optical construction is exactly the same. The only difference might be, that my lens is designated "Telyt-R". It is a very nice setup you have with the slow focusing tube and the RRS long lens bracket. Because of the pistol grip focusing unit on my lens it is more difficult to mount on a tripod. It would be nice to get hold of a Novoflex Tubus-D, which is the latest incarnation of the slow focusing tube. That would fit my lens head.
