barnsley fc bruce Posted March 31, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 31, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just purchased a Canadian 35mm Cron, version1 8 element black paint for AUS $750. I just wondered if this is a good find as I am not able to compare a price on e bay as there are only chrome ones.
Advertisement Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Hi barnsley fc bruce, Take a look here 35mm Cron 8 element black paint version 1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tobey bilek Posted March 31, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 31, 2010 (edited) Without recent sales, an accurate price can not be established. I have never heard of a black 8 element, not to say they don`t exist. My catalog does not list one. AUS is is not the proper abreviation for Australian $. It is AUD. If that is what you mean, $750 is a fair price for a chrome one, black has to be worth more, either a little or a lot more. Don`t know if V2 was black or chrome. Most 3 &4 were black. I have never seen either in chrome. My version 1 is a nice match up for my Rigid 50 and 90 2.8. A M2 and Weston Master meter and you are good to go. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-collectors-historica/117842-summicron-35mm-first-type-any-info.html Scan the link for pictures Edited March 31, 2010 by tobey bilek

Oh yes, they do exist, both in non-goggled and goggled version (for use with the M3), and even in LTM (those are VERY rare though). The price you paid seems to be a bargain IF the lens is in good to mint condition. Cheers, Andy

Cheers, Andy That's right : 8 el. blacks are uncommon but existed officially (not officially the very few in LTM) : very good price, and a desirable lens: post a picture of it !
