PasMichiel Posted July 14, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 14, 2009 Let it be serviced. There are some seals around the grass.

Shootist Posted July 14, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 14, 2009 Let it be serviced. There are some seals around the grass. Actually there are no seals around the view/range finder on a CL. You have to take the top plate off to get at most all the glass parts of the V/R finder and they can be cleaned. The only caution is the shutter release. There is a arm that it hits and when the top is off the bottom of the shutter release button can fall below that arm causing the camera not to function and it is not easy to get the button back on top of that arm. But it can be done. I've done all of this on CL's I've owned and had the button fall below that arm and got it back. But I now take every precaution that doesn't happen again. kenneth Posted July 15, 2009 Share #7 Posted July 15, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I am experiencing some serious fogging in my CL's finder, is there a DIY way to deal with it? Regards, Hermann I have a similar issue with one of my M6's. I spoke to Leica UK and they informed me that it was nothing to be concerned about and when the camera needs a service they will attend to it then. I should just try and ignore it if you can and just get on with taking pictures
rob_x2004 Posted July 16, 2009 Share #8 Posted July 16, 2009 Depends what you mean by serious fogging. If it is free water in the view finder its going to be indicitive of the climate inside the camera. Unlike the M6/Mp your CL has a match needle and you dont need that or its electronics gumming up or corroding. I would be inclined to pull the film and battery out take the bottom case off and open the it up as much as you can and dry it out. Turn the camera occcasionally, stuff will evaportate out in different directions. If you just mean the viewfinder foggs in HKs climate with the camera close to your eye but you havent got it particularly wet, and it is a nuisance for focussing maybe the viewfinder is a bit dusty and it gives somewhere for HK climate to dew against. A decent service and clean is likely to help....or....be brave like shootist.

Humidity is a great concern here for optics and electronics. regards, Hermann
