I have a ca 1956 f4.5 135mm Hektor. Some haze around the circumference but it works well. I am wondering why the front barrel section of the lens unscrews, but not far enough to be removable?

The full front section, which includes the aperture ring, is removable for use on PLOOT and Visoflex I. The correct short focusing mount that takes the lens head is ZOOAN. All these pieces can be bought very cheaply. They were made is large numbers. The very ealiest 135 mm Hektors, from about 1935, do not work this way.

Hello Peter,

I also have a 1956 135 Hektor. The head on mine unscrews very easily. There are no screws to loosen or anything else to prevent the head from being removed. The only thing I can think of is the top thread inside the tube might be buggered up. I don't think I would force the lens though. Enjoy it as is. Or get it fixed and the haze cleaned up at the same time.
