There has been several threads on this subject over the past few months, however the $200 budget may be new. I have a Canon 8800F scanner that is in that price range. I bought it to scan slides and it does that task very well. I then tried it on B&W negs and it also does that well. However, I cannot get a decent scan from a color negative. I have tried Vuescan with the scanner on my Mac, but it does not work well. Good luck.

Right now there is Nikon Coolscan III for $200. Is this a good buy? And how much does dpi matter in the final output of the scanned image? Sorry for the questions, definitely new to this!

Respectfully,

Vicente

Vicente ,

I think in my opinion there best since 1999's release date of Coolscan III

such as Epson V600....or Coolscan V

Note the resolution of the scanner

I answered a thread on the scanner here:

Best

PS : What kind of format you want to scan ?

24x36 only?
