Advertisement Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Hi stunsworth, Take a look here Adobe Lightroom for iPad. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Phil U Posted April 8, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 8, 2014 It looks like a good implementation, particularly the syncing set up. It would be nice if it was a little less limited in functionality (no custom presets?) but that is to be expected. It actually tempts me to move across to the subscription model, but only tempts, mind you.

ldhrads Posted April 10, 2014 Share #5 Posted April 10, 2014 I'm wondering how it will work to bring in raw files from MM/M9 to iPad and then LR mobile. I'm still looking for a solution so I don't have to lug around my laptop on vacation. This may finally be it! I'm still looking for a solution so I don't have to lug around my laptop on vacation. This may finally be it! Although you can use photos from the camera roll, I'm not certain you'll be able to do anything with RAW files on the iPad. The way the app normally works is that you create a collection in the desktop Lightroom with the photos you want to have access to on the iPad version of Lightroom. That folder is then synced to the Adobe 'cloud' - or rather reduced sized versions of the original files are created in the cloud. The iPad then accesses these smaller versions not the originals. Because there's a link from iPad -> cloud -> desktop, any changes made on the iPad can be automatically made to the desktop version.
kdriceman Posted April 15, 2014 Share #7 Posted April 15, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just downloaded the app today and have been playing with it. It seems to be pretty good... Responsive, stable, flexible with the same basic editing functions as LR desktop. The sync function is straightforward and works well and is pretty fast. However the claim that it handles raw files is a bit misleading IMO. When syncing from the desktop to the ipad, it does, in fact place an edit-able, but reduced size DNG on the ipad. However, when I import a raw file into the ipad,(DNG Only from the M) LR Mobile cannot read that. It will read, edit and sync the jpeg when you shoot and import jpeg or DNG +jpeg. So, it is good, functional, stable and relatively fast so it is a convenient tool, but it does not appear that it will have much impact on my workflow. sandymc Posted April 15, 2014 Share #8 Posted April 15, 2014 You can use PhotoRaw to convert from DNG to JPEG, then import into LR Mobile: ChromaSoft: Importing raw images into Lightroom Mobile Sandy
ldhrads Posted April 15, 2014 Share #9 Posted April 15, 2014 I was hoping this would be an "easy" solution to use on the iPad, so I could leave the macbook pro at home when I travel. Still I think the problem is how the iPad handles DNG files..... Too bad.

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk I've just started to learn Capture One, and in watching the video from the Luminous Landscape people, I believe Capture One has a similar sync feature. They seemed to say that you would think it wouldn't work so well without the full RAW file, but that when you bring the edits back to the full Capture One it does a surprisingly good job. I was more focused on the basics as watched this multi-hour tutorial, but that is what I recall.
borislavbaros Posted April 17, 2014 Share #11 Posted April 17, 2014 Adobe's Lightroom software has long been hailed for photographers who need better control over their workflow, but the biggest drawback of Lightroom Mobile is that you need to have the latest desktop version of Lightroom 5.4. kdriceman Posted August 12, 2014 Share #12 Posted August 12, 2014 I've had this for my iPad for a few months now and I really don't use it much. However, I just downloaded the iPhone version and have found that it can be configured to automatically sync all pictures I take on the iPhone with my desktop LR catalog. Now, every photo I take on the iPhone shows up in my desktop LR catalog a few minutes later where I can easily manage them and integrate them with my central catalog. Very nice feature indeed.
