ShivaYash Posted May 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 14, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) When will 64 bit versions be out? Its irritating for me (Aperture 3 user) to keep flicking between 64 and 32-bit operating mode.

fjmcsu Posted May 15, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 15, 2010 According to NIK website: "We are actively working to add 64-bit compatibility to the Macintosh version of our Viveza 2 product and expect to be finished mid-year. Once the update for Viveza 2 is released, we will deliver cross-platform 64-bit versions of our remaining products as they become available." Looks like late summer or fall ? miami91 Posted May 15, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 15, 2010 Couldn't agree more. I read something on their website that said they were working on them, but it indicated that the initial project was Viveza, and that the other plugins "would follow". Didn't leave me with much optimism. I also wouldn't be surprised if they prioritize the PS 64 bit versions over Aperture. On a positive note, the updates will apparently be free of charge. I think I'd almost rather pay for the upgrades than have a long and indeterminate wait though... Jeff.

digger1914 Posted May 18, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 18, 2010 Be prepared to wait a while There has been a bug with ColorEfex Pro since Snow Leopard came out. If you upgraded to Snow Leopard the filter in PS would not load properly. It is too wide for the screen. They have been promising to fix that one for many, many months now. Still no result though! I love their software, and have spent a bomb on it, but delays like this are unacceptable.
esquire53 Posted May 19, 2010 Share #7 Posted May 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Below is their statement about 64 bit and some sort of issues. I use now Aperture 3 and it is very annoying to switch back to 32 bit mode. Cheers 64-Bit Compatibility: Nik Software is also pleased to announce our commitment to developing native Windows and Macintosh 64-bit versions of our current plug-ins. We will make them available free of charge to registered customers who use Photoshop, Lightroom or the recently released Apple® Aperture™ 3. We are actively working to add 64-bit compatibility to the Macintosh version of our Viveza 2 product and expect to be finished mid-year. Once the update for Viveza 2 is released, we will deliver cross-platform 64-bit versions of our remaining products as they become available. There are two known issues that we are aware of at this time. One relates to Windows 64-bit users, and the other one relates to Macintosh users. These issues are subject to change until the final release; however, we do not expect these issues to change. Windows 32-bit users are not affected by these issues. For Windows 64-bit Users (XP, Vista, 7): Photoshop CS5 for Windows will continue to run in both 32-bit and 64-bit version. Those using a Windows 64-bit machine will need to continue to use the 32-bit version of Photoshop CS5 (the same as was the case with Photoshop CS4) for all current products, except for Viveza 2, which is fully compatible with both 32 and 64-bit versions of Photoshop. For Mac Users (10.5 Leopard and 10.6 Snow Leopard): Photoshop CS5 will for the first time, run in 64-bit on Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard) and Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard). Currently all Nik Software products are 32-bit compatible. For this reason, none of our products will work natively in Photoshop CS5 while in the default 64-bit mode. To work around this issue, until the 64-bit version of Nik Software products are released, Photoshop CS5 will need to be forced into 32-bit mode. Typically the user will need to locate the Photoshop CS5 application file (Macintosh HD | Applications | Photoshop CS5. Once located, select it, press Command + I (apple key + I) to get the Information dialog window. In the information dialog window, midway down there should be a check box that will allow you to select "Run in 32-bit Mode", then close the information window. Once this is done, each time Photoshop CS5 is launched it will automatically be running in 32-bit mode and all Nik Software product will work as they did in previous versions of Photoshop. Nik Software is currently evaluating 64-bit compatibility; however, at this time we do not have any information on when our products will become fully 64-bit compatible. chuckw Posted May 19, 2010 Share #8 Posted May 19, 2010 Very disappointing news from Nik! As a major provider of Photoshop plugins for Mac they don't have *any* information when their software will be 64 bit compatible? It's not like they didn't know that this was coming or could not get ahold of a beta copy of PS.
