mrcmrc Posted November 19, 2006 Share #1 Â Posted November 19, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I have some problem reading the photos saved in raw format with the D-Lux 3... with my Mac I've tried to read the files with Photoshop Elements 3 LE (that comes with the camera), but them are recognized as Photoshop RAW and not camera RAW (I think because in the meta data "Image format" is "Photoshop RAW"). So opening them in this way cause a strange gray image with some noise. Â Also with C1 I cannot open them because they are not listed in the browse window. Simply C2 do not see them... Â Any advice? Advertisement Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Hi mrcmrc, Take a look here RAW format on the D-Lux 3. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
sebastian Posted November 20, 2006 Share #2 Â Posted November 20, 2006 Have you downloaded & installed the new Adobe Camera Raw 3.6 (free) from Adobe.com? It's the D-lux 3-specific version. I think it was not ready when the D-Lux 3's were boxed up, and you have to do the upgrade. I'm not having any trouble with PSE3 & ACR 3.6 combo. mrcmrc Posted November 20, 2006 Author Share #3 Â Posted November 20, 2006 Thanks for the reply Sebastian, on my mac I have Adobe PS (not PS2) and seem that it cannot open raw file. On the mac at my office, with PS2 and the Raw 3.6 I have opened the file! Â But I really wish to get it opened also in C1... and I think it's very strange that Photoshop Elements sent with the camera cannot open it... It may well be that Leica had to burn the CD before Adobe updated Camera Raw to interpret its files. That wouldn't be Leica's fault.
mrcmrc Posted November 20, 2006 Author Share #5 Â Posted November 20, 2006 You're right. I've updated the Camera RAW in PE and now it read the files. Â I think that C1 doesn't support the D-Lux 3. Â Thanks again for the help!
scott kirkpatrick Posted November 20, 2006 Share #6 Â Posted November 20, 2006 Â I think that C1 doesn't support the D-Lux 3. Â That's right. But write to them and request it. They are considering adding support for "generic" dng files, which would let you get some reasonable starting point. This is the support that ACR and Lightroom give. Hopefully, "generic" dng support is something to ask them to release with their next major upgrade. Â scott
mrcmrc Posted November 21, 2006 Author Share #7 Â Posted November 21, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Scott, I wrote them but the reply was "No, this model is not currently supported". However the D-Lux 3 write .RAW files not .DNG Â Thanks for your message!
thomasl.se Posted November 21, 2006 Share #8 Â Posted November 21, 2006 However the D-Lux 3 write .RAW files not .DNG I don't know of any camera which writes DNG; I think I read about one somewhere, but can't recall which. Anyway, as of yet, converting RAW into DNG on the 'puter is how it's done.
