D2 "Sound" settings

Does anyone know of a combination of button settings or "hacks" that allows the D2 shutter sound to be audible, but not the "beeps" when ever a button is pushed? I'd like to hear the shutter, but not the beeps.

You should be hearing the shutter if you turn off the beep, there is no way to mask the mechanical sound. Given the sensor size, however, it's a relatively quiet "click".

Vettran -

Most of us treasure the quiet shutter on the D2 - Typically you will be the only one to hear it, allowing you to be quiet shooting in quiet settings. Most people never know when I've shot, even when doing portraits with the D2, unless they happen to be looking into the lens and happen to see mechanical movelment.

It is surprising to read that you WANT to have a sound with the D2, dear Vettrain. The D2 users I know so far were always glad to have such a silent camera. ;):D

I also appreciate the low noise level of the Digilux 2, which allows taking pictures without disturbing people, e.g. during a concert or other occasions, such as wedding, conference, awards ceremony, etc.

Best regards, Peter.

Thanks for the comments about the D2 shutter quietness. I appreciate the quietness of the shutter as well; and have for the last 5 years.

However, I am also interested in being able to hear the shutter (only; not the beeps) when I desire. So I am inquiring if there is a hack or some unpublished combination of button pushes that will let you hear the shutter.

Im with you VETTRAN. As its there, I would have like to have had the choice to use (or not) of the click sound but alas, I have not found a way of having the click without the beep!

No biggy though. Having been told to provide optional sounds, I think perhaps the interface designers did it on purpose. After all who really wants some fake shutter click providing some... slot machine musical accompaniment to the visual virtuosity of the D2.
