Panasonic GF1 - Leica Lens

Hello,

 

I recently bought a Panasonic GF1 with the 20mm pana lens. I am thinking about buying the micro 4/3 adapter to use my leica glass on it but not certain with the 2x magnification if it makes sense. The 20mm now gives me a field of view of 40mm and if I put the 18mm leica on it the field of view is basically the same. I would do this if the quality of a 8.5 x 11 print would be better. I was even thinking of the voightlander 15mm?

 

Any comments would be appreciated.

I think it is better to stick with the native lenses... Panasonic will be releasing a 14mm lens soon as well and that may be your best bet.

If I had a GF1 I'd definitely get that adapter and mount my M lenses on it

 

It's kind of like a stereo: put the best source at the front of the chain and it'll do more to make the music sound good than vice versa

 

Which is where I differ with the "M lenses are too good for the sensor" crowd

Be aware that wide M lenses (less than say 50mm) show some spherical distortion in the corners on the GF1. Sean Reid's site has some comparisons, I think.
