troyfreund Posted February 23, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 23, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey Folks About a month ago, I picked up an AC adapter for my R8/DMR rig. I wanted to use it, along with my Leica Intervalometer, to make photos over the course of an entire night. Unfortunately, I discovered that the Intervalometer and AC adapter both plugged into the same jack on the DMR. Leica had no product to allow both devices to work concurrently. I spoke to my rep and to someone in service in NJ. I recalled seeing the website of a fellow on the East Coast who made custom photo-cables and I contacted him. He thought he could make an appropriate adapter for me. I sent him the Intervalometer and AC adapter. In three weeks, I had my custom cord adapter made and now can use both devices at the same time! Michael Bass, of Michael Bass Designs, created a y-cable for me and it works great! Check him out at Michael Bass Designs He's also come up with some inexpensive AC-adapters for the DMR (though I haven't tried them out). Here's a photo of my R8/DMR with the AC adapter and Intervalometer hooked up, via Bass' designed Y-box. You can see another valuable accessory on the camera also--the BrightScreen Eye-piece Magnifier. Michael Bass Designs: Sync Cords

Michael Bass Posted April 28, 2009 Share #4 Posted April 28, 2009 Thanks for the nice words, Troy! It is just too bad there is such tight control on the supply of the micro-DIN connectors, which is most of the cost of these items.
dritz Posted April 28, 2009 Share #5 Posted April 28, 2009 Great info -- especially as I'm looking for the Leica power supply (my dealer is checking parts in Germany). How is the brightscreen for you? Looks like just the ticket. Thanks.

How is the brightscreen for you? Looks like just the ticket. Thanks. Howdy Sir, Just go check Michael's site--he was going to make his own power adapters too, for the DMR. The brightscreen magnifier is great. I"m really glad I invested in it.
